TROY, Michigan  – SSDM, a nationally recognized integrated communications agency, has won the prestigious Clarion Award from the Association for Women in Communications (AWC), an international organization. Named for the medieval trumpet known for its clarity, the award honors excellence in clear, concise communication.

The winning entry, “Brenda’s New Home,” is a video showcasing Brenda, a memory-care resident at (SSDM client) StoryPoint Senior Living. Intended to allay fear surrounding Memory Care, especially among seniors, the video resides within an asset library for use when a campaign is to focus on Memory Care services, generally as part of a programmatic campaign, and sometimes as part of an email or remarketing initiative.

“Brenda’s endearing story and her sentiments about life at StoryPoint are genuine and heartfelt,” says Michael J. Taylor II, SSDM partner and creative director. “At a difficult time in life, she truly has found her new home.”

Taylor goes on to say that video vignettes like this are all important for communication through storytelling, as people who are looking for a senior living community can relate more effectively to Brenda on a personal level.

Another video that SSDM produced for StoryPoint, about its Honor Flight project, has won a Telly Award and two Davey Awards, as well.

The Clarion Awards will be presented at a virtual event this fall.
