Terri Kline – Biography:
Teresa (Terri) L. Kline became president and chief executive officer of HAP and executive vice president of Henry Ford Health System in November 2016.
Terri’s executive leadership career in health care spans 30 years, with a balanced blend of payer and provider experience in insurance, managed care, consulting, physician practice management, health care information technology, financial performance and clinical network management. Terri has a deep knowledge of health care market dynamics and regulations, which she has used to balance the needs of patients, providers, employers and payers throughout her career.
Prior to joining HAP, Terri led her own firm in Atlanta, Georgia, providing strategic consulting, due diligence and interim management services. Before that, she was senior vice president and chief health care management officer for Health Care Service Corporation, the fourth-largest U.S. health insurer with 14 million members. In this role, Terri led the health care management functions of network, quality, medical and pharmacy management, as well as health information technology. She also provided strategic and operations oversight for BCBS plans in five states as well as four subsidiaries.
During her career, she has served as CEO of CHA Health; president and CEO, UnitedHealthcare of Georgia; senior vice president, managed care, HealthSouth; senior vice president, operations, OnCare, Inc. and as regional vice president of Aetna Health Plans, where she managed 25 percent of Aetna’s group health business, which included 3.4 million members.
Terri serves on the boards of several organizations, including Intersect ENT (NASDAQ: XENT), LaunchPoint Corporation, Presbyterian Health Plan (a for-profit plan owned by Presbyterian Health Services), Inforum (formerly the Women’s Economic Club), and the Alliance of Community Health Plans. She previously led the boards of Availity, Medecision and Innovista Health Solutions. Her professional memberships include the National Association of Corporate Directors and Women Business Leaders Foundation. An avid hiker and national parks enthusiast, Terri also serves on the board of directors of the Grand Canyon Association.
A native of Michigan, Terri received her master’s degree in public health from the University of Michigan and her bachelor’s degree in biology from Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Mich.
