  1. Troy Schools Gear Up for “Step Up to the Plate” Promotion & Chance to Win $1,000 Cash Prize

    A partnership between Troy Chamber member restaurants and Troy School District (TSD), “Step Up to the Plate” is slated for Sunday, November 5 – Thursday, November 9.

    During these dates, participating restaurants will offer diners 20% OFF their food purchases if they bring in a “Step Up to the Plate” promotional piece (i.e. school flyer, ad, email or other communication about the program). Discount offer is only valid for food and non-alcoholic beverages.

    Diners may then turn in their detailed receipts to the Troy school of their choice. Receipts are due to Troy Schools by Friday, November 17. The school receiving the most money in receipts will win a $1,000 cash prize! This promotional event is sponsored by Main Street Bank.

  2. Troy Chamber Accepting Best of Troy Nominations

    Troy  Chamber of Commerce’s Best of Troy Committee is seeking nominations of Troy businesses (that are Troy Chamber members) which have completed an exterior building project or interior upgrades to their office space during 2016-2017.

    Annually, the Troy Chamber’s Best of Troy Committee recognizes quality investment and reinvestment made by local building owners and tenants in Troy. The Chamber is looking for a variety of project types and sizes. Judging is based on function, uniqueness, use of space and aesthetics. In order to qualify, nominations must be a Troy Chamber member.

    “The City of Troy continues to see growth and redevelopment and as a Chamber, we want to recognize and honor those businesses which have made substantial investment in our community”, said Ara Topouzian, President & CEO of Troy Chamber of Commerce.

    Last year’s recipients included: Basso Design Group, Children’s Hospital of Michigan, DSM Engineering Plastics, Horizon Global, Innovative Learning Group, Tyler Technologies and Walsh College.

    Nominations should be submitted to Troy Chamber staff at 248-641-8151 or by email theteam@troychamber.com no later than Friday, November 3, 2017. Awards will be presented at the Chamber’s annual meeting in January 2018.

  3. STEM.org™ Founder Andrew Raupp to Keynote Troy Chamber Young Leaders Panel

    On Thursday, October 26, the Troy Chamber will host Next Generation Troy, an event featuring young professionals that are championing the next generation of purposeful leadership. The event will take place at Next Wave Media Lab (950 Stephenson Hwy, Troy) from 8-10 a.m. The event begins with a conversational keynote by Andrew Raupp, Founder & Executive Director of STEM.org™. He will discuss disruption’s positive and negative impacts on manufacturing, education, politics, retail, investing, jobs and more.   4. State associations and leaders recognized for excellence

    Three longtime Michigan association leaders were inducted into the Michigan Society of Association Executives’ (MSAE) Hall of Fame at the MSAE 16th Annual Diamond Awards event Sept. 14 in Dearborn. Barb Barden, retired executive director, Livingston County Convention & Visitors Bureau; Kris Nicholoff, CEO/executive director, Michigan Osteopathic Association; and Amy L.   8. Assistance League receives $15,000 grant from the David W. Elliott Memorial Foundation

    ALAssistance League of Southeastern Michigan received a $15,000 grant from the David W. Elliott Memorial Foundation. The funds will support three Assistance League philanthropic programs: Assault Survivor Kits, Link to Creative Teaching and Operation School BellÒ. All programs serve local families and students by clothing, feeding, educating and comforting people in need.

     July 26, 2017TROY, MI — On Thursday, July 13, Ara Topouzian, President & CEO, Troy Chamber of Commerce was elected for a three-year term to the Board of Directors of the Michigan Society of Association Executives (MSAE). This was announced at their annual OrgPro conference which was held in Port Huron, Michigan.

    MSAE has served the association management and meetings industries since 1927. Today MSAE functions as an information resource and professional network for more than 700 executives in Michigan’s association and nonprofit communities.

    “MSAE is honored to be able to secure thought leaders to our Board. These Board members make sure that MSAE, the association for the association management profession is the key resource to advance the professionalism and knowledge, and share successes of, the sector. Ara has the prospective that the industry respects.” says Cheryl Ronk, CAE, CMP, FASAE, President, MSAE.

    “I am honored to have been chosen to serve on the MSAE Board and looking forward to giving back to an organization that has been a great professional asset in my life,” says Topouzian.

    Topouzian is currently pursuing a Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation which remains the symbol for excellence in every facet of association management.
