The Troy Non-Profit Network (NPN), a group comprised of more than 35 non-profit organizations within the Troy Chamber of Commerce, announced, for the second year in a row, Michigan Catholic Credit Union as the Top Donor for this year’s “Change for the Better” fundraiser. The credit union’s 60 employees raised a total of $1036.56 for the group of non-profits.
Also for the second year in a row, the award for the Highest Per Capita Donations went to Derderian, Kann, Seyferth & Salucci, P.C., whose 21 employees raised $584.03, for an average donation of $27.81 per person. Overall donations for “Change for the Better” reached a grand total of $2696.
Several businesses went the extra mile to include incentives for their employees, such as donating for a casual day at work, auctioning off homemade baked goods, and other friendly employee competitions.
“Fundraising efforts of Michigan Catholic Credit Union included innovative methods, such as an obstacle course in their parking lot, a tennis match, and a competition between the credit union's employees on two floors", explained Troy Chamber Vice President and NPN Staff Liaison Jody House. “This creative company enlists the help of its ‘Busy Bee’ committee to come up with fun new ways of raising money every year for the NPN. These activities have provided the staff with great team building activities while adding to their donation total. It has proven to be a very successful formula for both the NPN and the credit union."
Volunteers from the NPN delivered and picked up the collection bottles, donated by Aqua Advantage, and Michigan Catholic Credit Union provided its tellers to assist the Chamber in counting and tallying the donations.
As the Top Donor company this year, the employees of Michigan Catholic Credit Union received a Mexican lunch provided by Salsarita's of Troy, 6892 Rochester Rd. (near South Blvd.).
The local non-profit organizations that make up the NPN will benefit from the donations provided by the companies that participated this year. Each of the NPN organizations provides services to Troy and surrounding communities.
“If your company is looking for an opportunity to partner with a charitable organization during the holidays, or make a tax deductible contribution to, we encourage you to check out the NPN Wish List,” said Barbara Garrett of Community Housing Network, Inc. and 2008 NPN chair. “If you have items or services that you would like to donate, check out this list first. There may be something that you, or your company, can provide during this holiday season.”
